Wimbledon 2008 Men’s Singles Finals Review

The Wimbledon 2008 Men’s singles finals reminds me of the

“pink floyd” song “High Hopes

here are a few lines from the song

The grass was greener
The light was brighter
The taste was sweeter
The nights of wonder
With friends surrounded
The dawn mist glowing
The water flowing
The endless river

Forever and ever

Yes the grass was greener and faster till 2001

The lights were dimmer,because it was dark out there this was the longest men’s singles finals in Wimbledon history on record 4 hours and 48 minutes of pulsating action.

The taste was sweeter for Rafael Nadal he did the unthinkable The first man since Bjorn Borg in 1980 to win Wimbledon and the French Open in the same year, Nadal stopped Federer’s streaks of 40 victories in a row at the All England Club, and a record 65 in a row {it should have been 41 victories thanks to Tommy Haas who pulled out of a 4th round match in Wimbledon 2007}

The nights of wonder Roger Federer brought down crashing to earth in an epic battle it was difficult to pick a winner in the final set.He hadn’t lost a match on grass since 2002, and he hadn’t lost a set during this tournament before Sunday!what a glorious night on SW19{some people call it the glorified French Open nowadays i don’t know why!}

And the last line of the song seems true too.The match went on and on like the song goes Forever and Ever!This song was written by David Gilmour for the 1994 pink floyd album The Division Bell

Mr. Gilmour you are a genius just like Federer and Nadal what a song you can relate this song in any ways you want, the guitar work is exemplary too.This song suits perfectly with the Hallowed lawns of Wimbledon.

  4. What a match and what a song!

    Unbelievable stuff.

    Believe me, it takes some real slogging to defeat fedex’s genius.

    Before the match, it was like “Federer losing? On grass? Go n consult a doctor, man…”

    But Rafa fought and achieved the unthinkable…

    And true, the match went on forever and ever but who cared, we were witnessing one of the greatest sporting performances of all time!!
